E3 2013: PS4 has a user-replacable hard drive

by on June 11, 2013

The PlayStation 4’s stock 500 gigabyte hard drive can be replaced by a hard drive of any size should a user need to replace it or upgrade it.

Speaking to Polygon, a Sony representative confirmed that the console will have a replaceable hard drive like its predecessor the PlayStation 3’s removable 2.5-in hard drive.

Sony hasn’t confirmed whether or not the PlayStation 4’s hard drive remains the same 2.5-inch size as the PlayStation 3’s. It also hasn’t said if the console supports USB external hard drives like the Xbox One.

The Xbox One does not have a user-replaceable hard drive.
