Today, during its E3 press conference, publisher Ubisoft announced its next-generation open-world racing game The Crew.
A trailer and a live demo was shown for the game with both street, and off-road racing.
Players will race in an open-world where they seek to take down a “criminal organization” across the US. Various missions will be scattered around the persistant world and each one will support cooperative play.
In the live demo, Ubisoft showed a mission where the player had to take down a rival car, crashing through the streets of Miami, Florida. The player was ranked in a leaderboard and earned experience points after the mission.
Players can customize their cars to suit each mission.
The game will include support for tablets, the Apple iPad was specifically mentioned, to customize their vehicles.
The Crew is in development by Ivory Tower, which consists of some former Eden Games employees who worked on Test Drive: Unlimited.
Correction: This article previously stated that The Crew is being developed by Ubisoft Reflections, but that was incorrect. It is being developed by Ivory Tower. Ubisoft Reflections is assisting, but not the primary developer. We apologize for the error.
