E3 2013: Ubisoft announces Tom Clancy’s: The Division, an open-world RPG for PS4 and Xbox One

Ubisoft announced its next-gen, online, open-world RPG game The Division based in the Tom Clancy universe, during its E3 press conference today.

Massive Entertainment is developing The Division.

In the gameplay demo, played on the PlayStation 4, we saw a digital map overlay on the environment while we followed in third-person, a unnamed man with a gun. Other players beside him were communicating with him over radio. They mentioned things like “skills,” and a “group heal,” and pulling the enemies out. The enemies had health bars that were sprouted damage numbers when shot. The team found a gun inside a building, and exited into Manhattan, New York. They soon fought another group of players.

The game will be playable on tablets in some form.

The Division will launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at an unannounced date.
