The Last of Us creative director: The world is ‘ripe for more stories,’ Ellie and Joel’s story is finished

Naughty Dog Creative Director Neil Druckman believes the world of The Last of Us is “ripe for more stories,” but he said the game’s main protagonists Ellie and Joel’s story ends with the game.

In an interview with the PlayStation Blog, Druckman said, “We were very conscious that we didn’t want to leave this story dangling,” and “If we never do a sequel we’re ok with it, because we told the story we needed to tell.”

While The Last of Us, a survival game set in a post-apocalyptic Earth, won’t be released until next Friday, June 14, the critical praise for the game is high. At the time of this writing, the game’s Metacritic score is a 96 out of 100. It’s unlikely Sony will let this brand new IP end with one game.
