CryEngine 3 will support PlayStation 4.

Crytek announced yesterday on their official site that their new CryEngine 3 will support Sony’s upcoming console.

Crytek will sell licenses to companies and people to help empower them to achieve their goals on PlayStation 4.

Carl Jones, Crytek’s Director of Global Business Development says, “Our CryENGINE technology has always provided head-turning results across platforms. By supporting developers as they build for the future on PlayStation4, we are cementing our position at the forefront of the industry and helping others to create the best games they can in this exciting period of transition.”

As they continue to try and improve their engine in time for Sony’s new console, the number of licensing partners that Crytek has is growing. As such, the engine is being used to create not just first-person shooters, but several other types of games as well.

Will the CryEngine 3 be able to do everything that Crytek claims? What all kinds of games will the engine be used to develop?
