Nintendo Aren’t Abandoning Basic Wii U in the UK, Despite GameStop Withdrawl

by on June 5, 2013

A recent withdrawl of 8GB Wii U Basic Set consoles from GameStop stores has led many to believe that Nintendo are ditching the 8GB model of their Wii U console. Kotaku reported originally that Nintendo was discontinuing selling their 8GB Wii U models via GameStop as of June 18, which has set off the rumour mill. Many gamers have speculated that Nintendo was discontinuing the 8GB model in favour of a new model of Wii U.

Nintendo spoke to Eurogamer to confirm that they would continue to sell the 8GB Basic Set kits in the UK.

“We are unable to comment on rumour or speculation however we can confirm that Wii U Basic continues to be available in the UK,”
