If you play one Blizzard game, you’re likely to play another.
That’s why it’s hard to doubt the recent evidence from job listings, support pages, and dozens of screenshots from the sleuths over at MMO Champion, that a Battle.net desktop application is in development and coming soon to Windows PC and Mac.
The desktop app will replace each of the game’s (Diablo 3, StarCraft 2, and World of Warcraft) launchers, which means it will patch and repair your game clients in one interface. It will also include a news feed and a way to chat with other Battle.net accounts. MMO Champion seems to think a store page and forums will be available too, but nothing supports that at the moment. It would make sense though, since Blizzard is starting to sell in-game items for real money. It mentions profiles which are supported by a batch of avatar images.
Polygon found a support page that suggests the desktop client will be released in beta form at some point.
