Wizardy arrives on GOG.com

GOG.com continues to offer some of the best in digital content, with classic old school RPGS finally available for download. The three new titles are from the fan favorite series Wizardry, with the 6th, 7th, and 8th games all available to buy now on http://www.gog.com/

A blast from the past.

A blast from the past.

Available as DRM free downloads for both PC and Mac, Wizardry VI: Bane of the Cosmic Forge, Wizardry VII: Crusaders of the Dark Savant, and Wizardry 8, represent some of the high marks of the 90’s (and early 00’s) PC RPG scene. With unrivaled landscapes, amazing depth, and impressive visuals for their time, The Wizardry series represents a golden age of classic grinding, that younger gamers now have a chance to know first hand.

I had completely forgotten about the Wizardry series till I saw this announcement, and I’m glad that they’ve finally been reported and overhauled to work smoothly on modern day PC’s. I know my friend and I spent 100’s of hours just getting lost,  in what at the time were the biggest landscapes we had ever encountered.

Wizardry 8’s 3-d visuals helped to completely destroy our expectations, of what was possible in a 3-D virtual landscape. Not only that, but the game set a lot of standards that would later be attributed to other series, like game compatibility with character creation, letting you use the same warrior throughout the entire series.

Talk about ahead of it’s time.

Wizardry 6 & 7 are available now on gog.com bundled together for only $5.99, and Wizardry 8 is a mere $9.99. A pittance of a price for some true RPG greats. Pick these ones up, if you have some spare change.
