Speaking to Polygon, Microsoft Vice President Phil Harrison said, movies, television shows, and music downloads purchased from Xbox Video and Xbox Music on the Xbox 360 can be transferred to the Xbox One.
It’s unclear how users will transfer the content to the Xbox One, whether it’s done automatically, physically or digitally.
Xbox Live Arcade games and Xbox Games On Demand will not transfer to the new console, but Xbox Live profiles will, as well as Gamerscores and achievements.
The system isn’t backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games and Xbox Live Arcade games because the Xbox One architecture can’t run older software built on the Xbox 360’s architecture, according to what Harrison told Engadget.
Xbox One will not categorize digital games like the Xbox 360 does with Xbox Live Arcade, Indie Games, and Games on Demand, instead, they will all be known as games, according to Harrison.
