Capcom sales up, Resident Evil 6 below projections
Impressive sales numbers sometimes aren’t the only thing needed to be a success.
Capcom announced during its fiscal year earnings call that the game, which has sold 4.9 million units since its launch last October, has “plateaued.”
As a result, [Resident Evil 6] did not meet with our projection,” the statement by the company read. “In contrast, Dragon’s Dogma became a greater-than-expected hit product in the domestic market, which has high profitability, and became an unprecedented million seller in the recent years as an original title.”
Overall sales were up 14.6 percent for the year to end at $950 million, with net income down to $30 million, a decrease of 56 percent from last year.
