Shortly after announcing that Shadow of the Eternals, a sequel or successor to Eternal Darkness, is in development, IGN has posted nine minutes of gameplay footage from the project. You can see that footage right here.
The footage shown off REALLY looks like Eternal Darkness. The art style is similar, although clearly in higher resolution, the cathedral location seems to be taken directly from Eternal Darkness, elements from the first game such as the Hand of Jude are present, and of course, we see the Tome of Eternal Darkness. It will be interesting to see how the game will embrace its lineage, and how the game will break away from its predecessor.
As of now, the game will be developed for PC and Wii U, if the crowd funding goal is met. According to Denis Dyack, the creator of Eternal Darkness, the project may come to other consoles depending on how much money is raised. We’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
