Rumor: 3D Mario To Debut In October. Nintendo Planning Huge Marketing Blitz.
As with all rumors, take this one with a grain of salt. According to CVG Nintendo is preparing to give the Wii U some serious love in the coming months. Nintendo has apparently been engaged in talks with retailers, trying to restore faith in the console, and as a result of these conversations, some interesting information has leaked out.
According to CVG’s source, part of the reason for Nintendo’s lax marketing is the Wii U’s performance. Nintendo wanted to make sure system performance was up to par before launching a massive marketing campaign. With the system update that happened about a week ago and another update in the summer, the Wii U system performance will be where Nintendo wants it to be. When these issues are resolved, at E3 or shortly before, Nintendo will begin a large scale marketing campaign, highlighted by a new 3D Mario title.
Adding to the speculation, Rob Crossley from CVG has tweeted “But genuinely, there are some really special things lined up for Wii U. Really interesting Xmas for all”. As always, keep in mind that these are rumors, but hopefully they pan out.
