According to Nintendo World Report, EA is skipping out on the Wii U this year as it pertains to Madden NFL 25.
Recently, EA had discussed the game’s August release, but failed to mention the Wii U as a console for which it was being developed.
Today, the publisher confirmed to NWR that the game won’t be on the console, as feared by Nintendo fans.
“We will not be releasing a Wii U version of Madden NFL in 2013. However, we have a strong partnership with Nintendo and will continue to evaluate opportunities for delivering additional Madden NFL products for Nintendo fans in the future,” an EA Sports rep told NWR.
Madden NFL 13 by contrast, did release on the Wii U, but did not feature the Infinity Engine, which was found on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. At the time, we were told the next year’s version should have the engine. So much for that.
This marks the first time since 1991, that a Madden game is skipping a Nintendo console, while EA had also recently stated that Madden would not appear on the 3DS or DS again either.
