Yesterday on SportsNation on ESPN, Hall of Fame running Barry Sanders edged out Adrian Peterson to become the cover star in this year’s Madden NFL 25.
Sanders took home 58% of the votes and the former Detroit Lion took home the win for the old school team.
“The Madden NFL franchise has such a rich tradition and history, and there’s no better way to celebrate our 25th Anniversary than by having one of the best players of all-time on the cover,” said Anthony Stevenson, Senior Director of Marketing for EA Sports. “Barry Sanders has long been a fan favorite, so we’re proud to have him as the face of Madden NFL 25.”
EA says that this year’s game will utilize the new Infinity Engine 2, which introduces the Force Impact System that redesigns the Hit Stick, trucking, dive tackles and stiff-arms. According to EA, Infinity Engine 2 also introduces a suite of new features and improvements, including hard run cutting for more natural changes of direction, user-controlled stumble recovery, improved run blocking, new post-play logic and more.
The game is scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Check out the first official gameplay trailer below:
