Speaking with MVC, FIFA 14 Producer Sebastian Enrique says that the publisher is looking at making FIFA 14 an even better game than FIFA 13.  Not content with just making it better than last year, Enrique says his team is also targeting Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, as most popular game on the planet.

“We have a very strong feature set so I am very confident that we can do better in terms of sales and numbers than FIFA 13,” said EA producer Sebastian Enrique.

“We have an ambition that is outside what is developed in the game. We want to create the best football game but we also don’t want to just be the best sports video game – we want to be the best video game period,” added Enrique, in reference to Black Ops 2 being the best selling game of 2012, only 70K units in front of FIFA 13 worldwide.

“All these numbers about what is the No.1 franchise helps EA, so hopefully we can do it. It would be really rewarding for everyone working on the game.”

Enrique is aiming at getting Call of Duty players to play FIFA 14 when it releases this October.

“People that are playing Call of Duty are not playing FIFA. We want them to play FIFA and we achieve that by creating the best possible game that we can create. That’s what we focus on. We want to exceed everyone’s expectations and exceed our own expectations and create the best game. Competition or not, these goals are not going to change for us.”

I am all for EA having high ambitions, but is EA thinking that all of the Americans that don’t like Soccer, who do love COD, will all the sudden stop playing COD to play a game simulating a sport they can’t stand? Maybe if they added an optional story mode where you can be Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi and shoot people lol.
