In an interview with EDGE, Vice President of Sony Worldwide Studios Michael Denny revealed an interesting tidbit about the PS4’s launch.
“We know our launch date and we think it’s very important that gamers receive that console experience.”
Sony revealed a tentative launch window of Holiday 2013 at their PS4 Announcement event, which was not too different from what Nintendo did last year for the Wii U.
So, if Sony knows the actual date why have they not announced it to the world yet? Denny says there are production and pricing variables that still need to be sorted.
“we want to get it out to market quickly and pricing those various commercial variables to be fully weighed up that we’re not fully worked through.”
The good thing is this means that Sony are far along in the process of getting everything ready for the launch date. The bad thing is we still have to wait to find out when the Playstation 4 will hit shelves.
