When Oculus Rift development kits ship, it won’t be with Doom 3: BFG.
“Unfortunately, we’ve been informed that DOOM 3 BFG Edition will not support the Rift development kit by the time we begin shipping,” the Oculus blog notes. “Since DOOM 3 won’t be available, we’d like to try and make it up to you.”
Inverstors will get either $20 for Steam, $25 for the Oculus store or can have the Kickstarter pledge refunded.
However, the first game for the Oculus will now be Team Fortress 2, according to Engadget.
The game will have a VR mode update “within the next couple of weeks,” programmer Joe Ludwig said.
“This is a mode that everybody who has a Rift dev kit and access to Team Fortress 2 will be able to play, just on public and in the same servers that everybody else is playing in,” Ludwig told Engadget.
