Bioware Lead Writer to Head Up a Discussion of “Sex in Games” at GDC 2013
According to Gamespot, Bioware Senior Writer and Current head of the writing team for Dragon Age III: Inquisition, David Gaider, will lead a panel discussion called Sex in Video Games at GDC next month. In the discussion, Gaider plans to discuss the issues with sexism and sexuality in games addressing the challenges developers face heading into an even more powerful generation of gaming ahead.
Developers do have to address these issues when making games and sometimes they wind up causing reactions in gamers that are unintended.
“Games have reached the point where realistic portrayals of sex and adult relationships are possible, but what does this mean to us as developers?,” reads a line from the discussion description. “How much responsibility do we have in addressing issues of sexism and sexuality, and are we inadvertently making statements about what is acceptable, even when we don’t mean to say anything at all?”
GDC 2013 also plans on having panels with Bungie and their new game “Destiny” and Hideo Kojima where he will showcase his new FOX engine and talk some Metal Gear Solid projects as well.
However, the biggest panel may be the impending “Xbox 720” announcement that is expected to happen at GDC 2013. The event runs from March 25-29 in San Francisco, California. So you can bet that Gotgame will have the event covered for you in more ways than one.
