Nintendo Sells 3 Million Units, Expects to Take Hit

Nintendo sold just over 3 million Wii U units during the launch – December 31st window with 1.3 million units selling in the United States along with 2 million copies of Super Mario Bros. Wii U and Nintendoland. The news isn’t very good for Nintendo which has decreased their financial forecast for the next three months where they expected to generate 20 million yen in profit and now expect to lose 37 million yen. Nintendo is blaming lower demand for older systems, a less then stellar launch of the Wii U (projected down 1.5 million units as of March 2013) and the decrease in value of the yen for the drop.

No, that’s wrong. Nintendo lowerex their projections for this quarter, but they increased their net incme forecast. Nintendo benefits from the weak yen.
