I have a hard time believing Epic when they say that over half of the people who played Gears of War 3 had not yet played Gears of War 1. I’d suggest that if you are one of those people — then you probably didn’t have much interest in going back and playing Gears of War 1 anyway, but if you did here is your change. Apparently new copies of Gears of War: Judgment which will launch on March 19th will come bundled with a code to download Gears of War 1 (FREE!, a $20 value).
It’s a nice bonus feature for people who hadn’t played the first installment of the series – but for those of us who have, well it’s nothing. I have a copy of Gears of War at my home, I have little to no use for a digital download code for another copy so the $20 value is actually zero value for me. I guess the point that Epic is trying to make here is that if you’re like me and have played and beaten the first three installments of the Gears franchise, you’re likely going to buy Judgment anyway – so why give me, the dedicated Gears of War fan some bonus content when you can instead use the launch of a new game to get newer fans eyeballs on the original game? Wait, what?
