According to the February edition of Game Informer, Microsoft and Sony may be planning on revealing their next-gen consoles in March, right around the time of this year’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Calif.
Videogamer picked up on the rumor in the magazine that stated, “We hear that both Sony and Microsoft are targeting special Apple-style press conferences to unveil their platforms near the Game Developers Conference in late March.”
The magazine also added, “E3 in June may be the industry’s biggest event, but both companies want to give their systems their own limelight. That doesn’t mean E3 won’t be without its surprises. Next-gen games will be announced at the convention in preparation for the systems’ release at the end of the year.”
While this isn’t exactly confirmation that it’s indeed true, it sure makes GDC 2013 seem much more interesting, and we’ll keep our eyes and ears open on any additional rumblings as the show get closer. The conference will take place from March 25-29.
