Nintendo TVii to Finally Launch on Dec. 20
Nintendo is finally ready to launch Nintendo TVii, as the publisher today announced that the Wii U service is ready for deployment on Dec. 20 (tomorrow!)
“After Dec. 20, you’ll never look at your TV the same way again,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “Wii U owners have already experienced the transformative effect that the GamePad has on game play and social interaction. Nintendo TVii shows how the integrated second screen of the GamePad can also transform and enhance the TV viewing experience. Welcome to the new world of TVii.”
Nintendo TVii will allow users to take advantage of their current cable, satellite and video-on-demand services by pulling all of their available sources, which include Hulu Plus, into one place. For instance if there’s a movie or show you want to watch, you simply find it on the GamePad, and TVii will do the rest. So you won’t have to specify where the content comes from.
The service also includes social features that let gamers comment and share on Miiverse, Twitter and Facebook. Nintendo TVii doesnt’ require any additional equipment, while the GamePad also lets you access other information such as reviews, cast details and scores.
Both the U.S. and Canada will get the service tomorrow which will feature Amazon Instant Video and Hulu Plus integration at launch in the U.S. Further integration with TiVo and Netflix are expected early next year.
