iOS users who have been frustrated by the native maps app that came with iOS 6 will rejoice, as Google has today released the long awaited, and new Google Maps app for iOS.
The app is far from perfect, as bike routes are nowhere to be found, and neither are indoor maps, but it’s at least a start.
The menus are hidden from the map itself, which presents it with a clean design. Google+ Local can be brought up by swiping up from the bottom, including a 3D model of the inside of venues, while “Look Around” let’s you see photos that others have taken.
Voice guided, turn-by-turn navigation is provided and public transportation and walking directions are alo thankfully present.
The app is compatible with iOS5.1 and later.
