Arctic Combat Celebrates its Official Launch

WEBZEN announced yesterday that its eagerly awaited FPS Arctic Combat, has officially launched on both WEBZENS website and Steam. The free-to-play military shooter will challenge your skills as it takes you around the globe, from frozen wastelands to close-quarter urban environments, all using realistic weaponry and a robust perks system to customize your character.

In Arctic Combat, you play a soldier set in a tumultuous future. The world is in turmoil (imagine that, a war game where the world is in turmoil , :p) and skirmishes are flaring up around the globe. In Arctic Combat, players join either the U.S.-led Allied Forces or the Russian-backed Star Alliance. The war started over a fight for natural resources, but quickly escalates into WWIII.

With the official launch of Arctic Combat, WEBZEN has decided to add new content to the game, including a new Rocket Only sub-mode, where the only weapon allowed is a Rocket Launcher, and a new map, “Big Bang,” which is available exclusively for this new mode. Arctic Combat players now also have additional ways to customize their favorite weapons, by modifying them with desert paint, and Eotech holographic scopes. Along with the launch of the game, WEBZEN has also opened up its Country Ranking System which showcases a combatant’s rank and stats on the official site.

To further celebrate the launch of Arctic Combat, WEBZEN has also announced the 2nd World Championship – a global tournament that will pit clan vs. clan, then country vs. country, which will eventually culminate in an huge battle between North America’s and Europe’s best players. Applications to join the battle will be open starting in December and the qualifying round is scheduled to begin early in January 2013. More information on the 2nd World Championship can be found at ac.webzen.com.
