Hello and welcome to the GotGame Daily News Update for November 29th, 2012.
XBOX 720 Rumors are flying
Peter Molyneux gives his opinion on the Wii U
And a hacker doing what he does has cracked the secrets of the Wii U
But first we’ve got some XBOX Live news. Starting today and ending sunday, XBOX Live users in these countries will get free XBOX Live Gold this weekend: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan and the United States. Oops, guess they forgot Europe.
Speaking of the XBOX, sources continue to talk about the vaporware that is the XBOX 720. According to Bloomberg sources, the next XBOX will be released in time for Thanksgiving sales next year, almost similar to the Wii U. These same sources say that Microsoft is still in discussions about whether or not they should reveal the next generation XBOX at E3 2013 or hold a separate event for it. Is it just me, or are leaks about any game or console coming out more often these days?
Nintendo, being ever the sly dog, has yet to release detailed information about the inner workings of their newly released console. A few people have taken apart the Wii U but haven’t been able to get all the details down. One hacker though has cracked the code. Hector Martin went on twitter and posted details about the innards of the Wii U. A lot of it is technical jargon that you can see below, but Martin’s final judgement on the Wii U: The CPU is nothing to “write home about” but it’s not worse than the XBOX 360’s.
And the rumor mill keeps churning. It seems that, surprise surprise, Assassin’s Creed 4 will be coming next year. A survey obtained by The Gaming Liberty asks some questions that hint toward a sequel to Ubisoft’s recently released game. Questions like “what would players like to see in a future installment”, if they would like to see a character like Desmond, or Connor, in future games”, and one question about co-operative play for the main story. One question in particular asked how likely players would be to buy a new Assassin’s Creed game if it was released next year. Other than that there isn’t much news about this sequel, but it’s obvious Ubisoft is going to milk this franchise dry.
Finally the wise Peter Molyneux of 22 cans gives his opinion on the Wii U. Molyneux said in an interview with GamesIndustry INternational that Nintendo’s newest console is “good, but it’s not great”. Continuing, Molyneux mentioned that consoles need to be great, not just good, because the competition isn’t between consoles, it’s between all technology. Espcially, it seems, the iPad and Kindle Fire which Mr. Molyneux thinks are amazing technology and the Big 3 (Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony) need to match that. To that I say, until I can play a triple AAA title on my Kindle Fire then it’s just a simple distraction. What say you listeners?
