Rockstar Games: More Than 125 Million Units of GTA Sold Worldwide

Rockstar games just announced that their hit franchise ‘Grand Theft Auto’ has shipped over 125 million games worldwide, and that a full 25 million of those sold were copies of Grand Theft Auto IV.

Rockstar made the announcement at a presentation during the Credit Suisse 2012 Technology Conference, and Take-Two Interactive’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, likened the GTA series and its popularity to the James Bond franchise. I can certainly see Zelnick’s point from the popularity standpoint, but comparing any of the characters or story lines from the GTA series to James Bond is little crazy. Maybe Strauss had a few too many shaken and stirred during the conference.

Jokes aside though, this is a huge milestone for Rockstar Games, and the Grand Theft Auto Franchise, so credit must be given to the guys and gals who have treated us to such epic games. Bravo.
