VGA’s to Reveal a Game for “Old-School” Fans!

Everybody loves to play games, no doubt. Especially the new ones. What could be more exciting than unpacking a title you’ve been eagerly waiting for for months, firing it up and getting sucked in? Yup, you’ve guessed it! Waiting for an unannounced game to be announced only to find out you’ll be waiting several months again to finally play it. Don’t you just love teasers? And what better place to tease than at the annual Video Game Awards? Yup, thought so…

This year should be no exception! We already know we can look forward to the likes of “South Park: The Stick of Truth”, “The Last of Us” or “Gears of War: Judgment”, but what else there is that we should anticipate?! Well, here’s a hint as Geoff Keighley tweeted the following:

Have an amazing VGA announcement coming together for old-school gaming fans….this one is very special to me personally.

The first question you have to ask yourself is “How old is actually old enough?” You know, there are so many titles in need of a revamp that this is anyone’s guess. If you ask me, though, I’d say it’s something from the 1990’s. At least that’s what I’m hoping for. We know Raziel (Legacy of Kain) will be making a comeback at some point and the timing sounds about right. It’s going to be a decade since the last game after all. Candidates like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Jazz Jackrabbit, Metroid or Commander Keen – among others – come to mind as well.

It could even be a glimpse of Doom 4, Half-Life 3 or the next Unreal Tournament! That would be cool, right?

Or maybe I’m completely wrong here and we’re getting another Pac-Man. What say you? Wanna’ guess with us? Either way, we’ll find out soon.

The 2012 Video Game Awards air live on Friday, December 7th at 9PM ET/6PM PT. Hopefully, since it’s their 10th Anniversary, we’ll get something very special. Tune in to find out and keep those eyes open!
