Wii U Profitable with One Game Purchase
Reggie Fils-Aime has stated that the Wii U becomes profitable after just one game purchase.
The news was told to the Mercury News by the Nintendo of America president.
Currently, the console is being sold at a minor loss.
“As soon as we get the consumer to buy one piece of software, then that entire transaction becomes profit positive,” he said.
It’s unknown what Nintendo makes from third-party game sales.
“In the end, the business model is still to drive the install base of hardware,”Fils-Aime said, “and then to drive a strong tie ratio with all of the other software and experiences for the consumer. And if we’re able to do that, then we will create significant profit for the company.”
