New iMacs Unveiled, Thin Is In
Along with the new iPad and iPad mini, Apple showed off their remodel of the iMac. The new model, as you can see above, is much thinner than it’s predecessor, 80% thinner to be exact (around 5mm). It’s 8 lbs lighter as well. The screen will have 75% less reflection, HD camera, dual microphones, and a stereo system. It comes in two versions: 21.5 inch and 27 inch which has a resolution of 2560 x 1440.
Core i5 processors are powering the new iMac, will have up to 32 GB of RAM, and up to 768 GB of flash storage. The 27 inch version will have accessible RAM. Both will have four USB 3.0 slots though, as well as two Thunderbolt ports. You also get an SD card slot, gigabit ethernet, and the new fusion drive which will provide a 128 GB flash drive and 1-3 TB hard drive all into one drive.
The 21.5 inch model will ship in November and starts at $1300 while the 27 inch version will ship in December starting at $1800.
