For awhile now we’ve been hearing about the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 challenger: the iPad mini. Supposedly to be priced similar to aforementioned Android tablets, the new iDevice would be, obviously, a smaller version of the iPad. Now whenever one hears rumors about a device, one generally knows there is a good chance that said device will be coming…sooner or later. It seems that the former is the case if a rumor from AllThingsD is to believed.
Sources told AllThingsD that there will be an invitation only event next week on October 23rd in which the miniature iDevice will be revealed. As for pricing, it seems that the $199 price point that would make it a Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 competitor isn’t going to be. Business insider reports that a screen shot of pricing for the device has been leaked. The 8GB version will be €249, which translates to around $323. Now, overseas pricing isn’t a definite for the US so the tablet may be cheaper but it’s doubtful that it will be much cheaper than that. Apple has once again shown that they favor profit over the consumer and aren’t really giving us anything new, again. My advice to you all, go and get a Nexus 7 or Kindle Fire.
Aside from that Apple is rumored to be unveiling a new 13-inch Retina Macbook next week alongside the iPad mini. No invitations have been sent out yet for this event. Only time will tell if these rumors are true and the clock is ticking.
