Randy Pitchford Says “Borderlands 3 Not in Development Right Now”

The internet loves to misinterpret interviews and quotes, but thankfully we have twitter where you can get information straight from the actual sources behind things.

Of course, I am speaking of an interview Borderlands 2 lead writer, Anthony Burch, did where he was talking about Borderlands 3. So, this lit twitter ablaze with everyone talking about Borderlands 3 being in development. Did everyone forget that Borderlands 2 is only a week old? Why can´t people speculate on a future sequel without rumors getting out?

So, the head man in charge at Gearbox, Randy Pitchford, took to twitter to squash all the definitive “Borderlands 3 is in development” talk.

“Chill out internet. No one has started working on a sequel to Borderlands 2,” he wrote. “It’s fun to talk and think, but actual effort is focused on Borderlands 2 DLC, Aliens, etc.”

“Clean and Simple truth: The only Borderlands related game development work going on right now is for Borderlands 2. I expect that to change at some point, but that is the state of the box at this moment in time.”

Borderlands 2 did announce a $29.99 season pass a few days ago so I am sure that means we will get plenty of DLC content to keep us busy whenever the next installment does go into development.
