Ubisoft has today begun offering pre-orders for the digital PC version of Rocksmith via Steam.  Anyone who pre-purchases the game will receive immediate access to the closed beta and two extra in-game packs that will be available with the full game.

The closed beta, which ends on Oct. 12, will include all the features of the upcoming digital PC release.

The two extra in-game packs will unlock on October 16, 2012 and include a Heavy Metal gear pack and a set of Guitarcade Mini-Games:

•    Heavy Metal – Gear Pack: Specially designed for heavy metal and rock guitar tones, this Gear Pack includes: the RSMP-12, a custom high-gain amp and extended bass response 4×12 cabinet; the Caverb, a “cavernous” reverb pedal; the SicSicSicS, a solo boost pedal; and the Scooped, an active parametric EQ pedal. •    Guitarcade Mini-Games: This Time Saver Pack gives you access to all Guitarcade mini-games.

The Real Tone Cable required for gameplay is not included with the purchase of Rocksmith on Steam and must be purchased separately.
