Rare used to be a pretty fantastic company back in the N64 days. Between GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, and Jet Force Gemini (I swear, everyone forgets about Jet Force Gemini) they had my time on lock-down. But what really captured my attention was Banjo-Kazooie, the action-adventure title where bear and bird combined forces to take on Gruntilda’s evil minions. If you’re like me, then a recent Twitter feed created by Banjo-Tooie developers will at least intrigue you.
@MingyJongo is a group of developers who worked on Banjo-Kazooie‘s sequel, and they want to make a “spiritual successor” to the game. Keep in mind that doesn’t mean that they’ll be making another Banjo game, and it’s worth noting that they’ve said nothing about the not-as-popular Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts that dropped for 360. Their mission, according to the feed itself:
So, what is this twitter thing all about? Right. Firstly, it is to test the waters really, about whether anyone would even think making … //
a game that shares that same kind of humour, silly characters, fun game play, great tunes and all that stuff that we enjoy making. //
It wouldn’t be to try and recreate Banjo. It would be something new.
(“//” indicates the end of an individual tweet.)
They’re thinking about starting a Kickstarter if enough interest stirs up. Are you interested? Comment to let them know!
