Valve Preparing Steam beta for Linux

Linux users have a chance to be part of the Steam beta.

Valve announced that a beta for the Steam Linux client will be available for 1,000 users next month. The beta will support Ubuntu 12.04 and above.

The beta is also recommended for people familiar to Linux.

“For those new to Linux, we recommend waiting for a subsequent release where more features are implemented along with improvements to the user install experience,” Valve said.

The client also won’t feature the Big Picture Mode that’s on beta on PC.
