Mass Effect 1 Comes To The PS3… Finally…

At the end of this year, EA will be releasing all three Mass Effect games in one package for the X-Box 360, PC, and the PS3.  This marks the first time that the series could be played in its entirety on the Playstation 3.  The original version was published while Bioware was still owned by Microsoft and it seemed like legal agreements would prevent Mass Effect from being ported to the PS3.

It’s nice that PS3 owners will be able to play through the entire trilogy, but it would have been even nicer if Bioware managed to make this port before releasing Mass Effect 2.  Playing the first entry in the franchise after the final two entries will feel a little bit off, and the slower more RPGish gameplay of Mass Effect may feel a bit clunky to those who started out with the streamlined Mass Effect 2 or 3.

The X-Box 360 version of the game will be coming out on November 6th along with the PC version.  The PS3 version has yet to be dated.  The Wii U version of Mass Effect 3 is now officially the most redundant port of all time.
