Bayonetta Fans Make Me Ashamed To Be A Gamer

Ok, well, maybe not all of them.  I’m sure most Bayonetta fans are logical, caring, decent folk, and they love their family, drink their milk, say their prayers, and take their vitamins.  However there is a vocal minority of Bayonetta fans that are so unbelievably stupid that it makes me facepalm.  Take a look at how some gamers reacted to the news of a new Bayonetta game…

Ugh.  Here’s the situation guys.  According to rumors, Sega cancelled development on Bayonetta 2 sometime earlier this year.  Considering the news that Nintendo will be the publisher of the game, and that Sega is trying to move away from big budget titles, it’s likely that this is true.  Now, Platinum Games is a developer, not a publisher.  They don’t have the means to get a game from development to retail by themselves.  If Sega didn’t want Bayonetta 2, then there would be no Bayonetta 2 unless another publisher stepped in.

Enter Nintendo.  Nintendo has been developing quite a relationship with Platinum Games, who have been great supporters of Nintendo over the years with games like Viewtiful Joe, Mad World, and the upcoming Wonderful 101, and they likely disagreed with Sega on the financial viability of Bayonetta 2.  So, Nintendo agreed to publish the game and assume the risks involved in that.

It’s very likely that without Nintendo’s intervention, there wouldn’t be any Bayonetta 2, so fans of the series should probably be sending Nintendo a bouquet of flowers right about now.  More to the point though, this is a ridiculous reaction to such news, regardless of what the backstage story is.

When I tell people that I’m a gamer and want to be a game journalist, I have to work hard to convince them that I’m NOT an immature manchild who is completely out of touch with reality.  Actions like this temper tantrum on behalf of the gaming community makes us all look bad.  I may have been disappointed when Banjo Kazooie became an X-Box exclusive, but I didn’t send death threats to Rare or anything.  Geez.

In closing, I implore Bayonetta fans who are upset to grow up and be happy that this game is coming out at all.  If you want to play it, buy a Wii U.  If you don’t want to buy a Wii U, then you won’t be able to play it.  It’s not the end of the world.

NOW I HATE YOU FOR TAKING THE SIDE OF THE ENEMY, DAMN NINTENDO AND DAMN PG. Oh wait… I just realized… I agree with you totally. I can’t believe people would be so up in arms about something seemingly so minute and unimportant. On the bright side, it looks like all of these idiots are going to kill themselves over this news, so we don’t have to worry about them anymore.

dude WTF, that is such a weird way to write a comment.. “NOW I HATE YOU FOR TAKING THE SIDE OF THE ENEMY”… “Oh wait, I just realized, i agree with you totally” hahaha.. why didn’t you just delete the 1st bit of your comment and save the rest of us the trouble of reading your twisted indecisiveness? hahahahahaha!!!!

It is unfair when games are console exclusive. Maybe one day we will get away from consoles all together. 😛

i think we are sort of already there in a sense, i think we are currently transitioning to that.

Some fanboys are just too stupid for their own good. Good for Nintendo to pick this up as an exclusive. Too much whining about Nintendo not having 3rd party support; well here you go.

    • Todd Vote September 14, 2012 at 10:48 AM

Well if Nintendo is publishing this game, does it really count as 3rd party support? I’ve always considered 3rd party as a publisher thing, not a developer thing.

I didn’t read your article but based on those tweets I’m actually going to buy and play through the first one; I haven’t bought a single player console game in years.

The rage is not because it’s a Nintendo Exclusive, the rage is because it WAS a multiplat game that everyone could play! I’m also pissed, and I’m not usually pissed about those things, but COME ONE!!!!!!!!!

Personally, good for Nintendo to bring a game to their consoles that would have been dead with out them. As for all the gamers raging about this, they are nothing more than elitists who think that their consoles are much better and nintendo knows nothing about gaming. Funny, considering that Nintendo’s been in the gaming business longer than Sony and Microsoft combined

This is the most bad news I known for a year, Nintendo should go to hell.
I know Bayonetta 2 would become big, and I know Nintendo would take advantage of that EXCLUSIVELY.

  • Justin Weinblatt September 15, 2012 at 8:38 AM

@luillo/truth- Sega wasn’t willing to publish this. Would you rather have had the game linger in development hell? SMH

Well at least we now know what kind of people M$ and PS3 players are. Totally immature, childish and utter morons. You call yourselves gamers, seriously? You’re nothing but a bunch of whiners.
A true gamer is someone who grew up laying games and enjoying them no matter what I own all consoles from the NES and the first PS and Xbox and found them all enjoyable that’s why I can not relate to all these cry babies, I’m 35 years old and gaming has been my life. If you don’t want it then don’t get it simple as that and don’t forget you’re just embarrassing yourselves if you want to cry do it in a quiet corner and not outing yourselves in sites like this. I am ashamed being called a HARDCORE GAMER if the hardcore gamers are like. You are in a shameful league of your own.
