I reported yesterday that Keiji Inafune had a surprise announcement to make. Here it is, Comcept, the game development studio founded by Megaman creator and legendary producer Keiji Inafune, announced today it has a brand new game project in the works. The game, code named YAIBA, is under early development and although details are scarce, players can get a first look at the concept in a teaser video provided below
Here is what Mr. Inafune had to say about how the game came about:
“Everywhere I go, people ask me, ‘When is it coming?’” Inafune said. “There are so many zombie games out there, yet people ask me for a new Inafune zombie game. I am grateful for people’s respect for me as the ‘zombie game creator’ and to fulfill that I must answer their expectations with YAIBA.”
The game concept originated from intense soul searching by Inafune as he sought to create a fresh way to create a novel and unconventional game while still bringing a feeling of nostalgia for games of the past. “I am not at freedom to disclose the details just yet,” said Inafune. “But I am confident you will enjoy this new concept consisting of zombies with action, ninjas and mechs.”
Here is a teaser trailer for YAIBA:
I love the animation of everything in that trailer. Hopefully we will find out more details about the game soon.
