Activision Blizzard Still Being Shopped; Sony Closes Its Checkbook

Remember last month when we reported Vivendi wanted to sell Activision Blizzard to the tune of slightly over $8 billion? They’re still looking.

Though the finance director of Vivendi said that a company split was out of the question, reports still say that all options are on the table.

Eight billion dollars is a pretty steep pink slip to drive this car, and one of the major players in the gaming industry, has walked away in sticker shock, unwilling to even look at the purchase with its steep price point. Another major player, Microsoft, who had been reported in setting up a deal with Time Warner Interactive Entertainment, is in the sales office still, but is haggling the price.

The $8 billion would help struggling Vivendi resolve some of its nearly $14 billion in debt. Official word from Vivendi has been tight-lipped.
