Valve ‘Jumping in’ to Hardware

by on September 4, 2012

A listing has popped up on Valve’s website for an industrial engineer position in the hardware business.

“We’re frustrated by the lack of innovation in the computer hardware space though, so we’re jumping in,” the listing says. “Even basic input, the keyboard and mouse, haven’t really changed in any meaningful way over the years. There’s a real void in the marketplace, and opportunities to create compelling user experiences are being overlooked.”

This ties back into a story from earlier in the year with Valve possibly making a “Steam Box.” At its minimum, the device could simply put Steam on TVs (similar to OnLive’s console), but I look for Valve to have bigger plans in store, with Steam being what ties it all together.
