Games aren’t just tools to have a good time…they can also help fight against Big Tobacco. Or, at least, that’s what the truth campaign has banked on during their video game tour this summer. Showing off their new game Flavor Monsters, they’ve decided to release a mobile component for select Apple and Android devices.
Flavor Monsters is the second mobile game truth has released in efforts to appeal to teenagers. This game is in reference to their “Unsweetened Truth,” campaign which highlights the 45 different flavors used in creating cigarettes. Players will be able to take on the flavor monsters and defeat their invasion of the planet. Players will also have access to a “field manual” chock full of information about the flavorings added to tobacco products and the dangers of tobacco usage.
Gaming is constantly evolving, and if these “after-school special” style games actually are decent to play, then they may be able to appeal to their audience. An entire arsenal of related products exist for the franchise, ranging from vinyl toys to a web series. Flavor Monsters is available for free on the App Store and Google Play.
