Square Enix has today released the highly anticipated iOS version of The World Ends with You: Solo Remix available for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.
This mobile version of the acclaimed RPG features new tracks, social gameplay elements, and touch commands for activating abilities. For those that never played the game on the Nintendo DS, the story is about a boy named Neku, who wakes up in a crowded intersection of Shibuya in the heart of Tokyo–alone and unaware of how he got there. Then, he receives a text message: “Clear this mission…or face erasure.” With that, Neku is thrust into a life-or-death game that sends him scrambling down streets paved with one riddle after another.
Players will be able to take the action online against other iPhone or iPad players, with full HD/Retina display support and a 60-song soundtrack that includes remixes and completely new songs from composer Takeharu Ishimoto.

Kind of upset that this was the big announcement, but I guess it’s good that more players will be able to experience the tragically overlooked game.
