Planetary Annihilation Gets Notch Support
There are many Kickstarter projects online at the moment. In fact, some would say that there are too many. What it takes to stand out now is not only a great idea but you need the ability to market your project successfully. In the case of Planetary Annihilation, they got a free endorsement from Minecraft front man Notch.
Planetary Annihilation is a real time strategy game that is set to fill the void of the genre that seems to be lacking in substance lately according to the development team. The team is Uber Entertainment who has had experience working on titles such as Morrowind, Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour and Dungeon Siege. Their goal for the project is $900,000 and at the time of this article they are almost halfway there (432,234) with 26 days to go.
Notch gave his endorsement over twitter a few days ago saying that he has “never been more excited ever” about a game and “I can’t throw money fast enough at them!” To get this kind of approval from a world renown developer validates the efforts of the team at Uber and also paves the way for the approval of the community who hasn’t even played the game yet.
The game is inspired by Total Annihilation and will be released on PC and MAC. They are promising innovation to this genre and a new spin that is greatly welcomed from players and designers alike.
