RUMOR: Black Ops 2 Bound for Wii U

With only a few presumed months left until Nintendo’s newest console hits the market, it’s safe to assume that we know just about everything about the Wii U. Though the price and exact release date remain a mystery, such important facets as the games belonging to its launch window are, at this point, household knowledge; the new hardware will see New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, ZombiU, Rayman Legends, Nintendoland, and many more that will debut exclusively on the platform. Meanwhile, Mass Effect 3 and a pair of EA’s sports franchises round out the list with an energetic, previously-released boost in the third-party department. That’s all…

…or so we thought; rumors abound this week that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be expanding its horizons by also launching for the Wii U. This startling development comes in the wake of Go Nintendo discovering the presence of pre-order cards for this version of the game at Best Buy. Created by an employee, the slips have all the makings of a hoax with a surprising twist that would indicate their status as being something else entirely; the UPC codes bundled with the seemingly-faulty materials are, according to G4, actual UPC codes for reserving the title. It was also stated that the Best Buy employee claimed Black Ops 2 for the Wii U to be listed as a SKU in the company’s system.

Due to the fact that the existence of Black Ops 2 on Nintendo hardware is still largely a rumor, no official details have been given in regards to a release date, price, or modes present in the transition to a next-generation console. On the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will launch on November 13 for $59.99.
