In the film industry and many others, sequels are little more than a studio’s attempt to make as much money as possible without having to expend the creative energy required by an entirely new excursion. The same cannot be said for video games; in fact, more often than not, it is sequels that move the industry forward as they are given ample time to embellish on their predecessor’s ideas and mechanics to build something truly spectacular. Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins proves this concept like few others, and, as a part of Nintendo’s Month of Mario celebration, it is now available at a discounted rate from now until August 15.
