It seems as if it was only yesterday that both digital and physical retailers were bracing themselves for the midnight release of Modern Warfare 3; it wasn’t yesterday. In fact, it has been nine months since the latest game in the Call of Duty franchise launched to a level of fanaticism rivaled by few and matched by none. Season of Content, the name given to Activision and Infinity Ward’s calendar of downloadable updates, has done an admirable job of maintaining that level of buzz around the product and will wrap up its run on August 9 and September 6 with the final two bundles of content.
Modern Warfare 3 Collection #3: Chaos Pack will launch on August 9 for the Xbox 360 with four new Special-Ops missions – Arctic Recon, Light ‘Em Up, Special Delivery, and Vertigo – and three new Face Off maps – Intersection, U-Turn, and Vortex. Also featured is a new twist on the game’s Special-Ops feature, Chaos Mode, that tasks players with surviving constant enemy attacks and, at the same time, encourages them to chain together kills and use a wide assortment of power-ups to compete for a high score. Chaos Mode can only be contested on multiplayer maps Dome, Resistance, Underground, and Village.
Modern Warfare 3 Collection #4: Final Assault launches on September 6 with a far more traditional offering; five new multiplayer maps – Boardwalk, Decommission, Gulch, Offshore, and Parish – will open up new opportunities for players to expand their competitive horizons beyond the domains that they’ve resided in for much of the past year.
Modern Warfare 3 Collections #3 and #4 will launch on August 9 and Septbember 6, respectively, on the Xbox 360 for 1200 Microsoft Points. Members of Call of Duty Elite will gain early access while those playing the game on PC and PlayStation 3 must wait an undisclosed amount of time before getting their hands on this batch of downloadable content.
