Fox News Tries to Link Dark Knight Shooting to Games

Should the headline really surprise you?

Fox News, which has proven to be no friend to the games industry in the past, is trying to link the Aurora, Co., shootings to games, particularly World of Warcraft, according to MyGaming News.

While reporting about court documents, the broadcast mentioned that the above-mentioned game was “frequently” played by James Holmes, the shooter.

“James was obsessed with computer games and was always playing role-playing games. I can’t remember which one but it was something like World of Warcraft, one of those where you compete against people on the internet,” a classmate of Holmes was quoted saying.

The report also mentioned Dr. Lynne Fenton as a psychiatrist that treated Holmes. However, Fox News seemed interested in making a note that Fenton also present a talk titled “World of Warcraft: The Use of Archetypes in Psychotherapy.”
