Nintendo Download Update (July 26)

By and large, Nintendo’s 8-Bit Summer, an event commemorating the publisher’s many classic games with releases on the 3DS eShop, has maintained its focus on the major mascots that have helped fuel the company’s surge to the top of the industry; however, this week’s edition of the showcase spotlights their dark, greedy underbelly: Wario. Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, originally released for the Game Boy and now available on the 3DS, is the debut effort of Mario’s yellow-clad nemesis in which he must bash and smash his way through a variety of obstacles in pursuit of a valuable, golden statue. Joining in the promotion is Mole Mania, an oft-forgotten puzzler for the Game Boy developed by Shigeru Miyamoto.

Celebrating the other regular occasions on the storefront are Super Mario Bros. and Colors! 3D, the former of which is a part of the Month of Mario and is available for $3.99 until August 1 and the latter of which is the Game of the Weekend, a discounted title on sale for $3.99 until July 29 at 9 PM PST.

The remainder of this week’s releases are as follows below:

  • Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 (3DS)
  • Super Mario Bros (3DS) – $3.99*
  • Colors! 3D (3DS) – $3.99*
  • Planet Crashers (3DS)
  • Dot Runner: Complete Edition (3DS)
  • Decathlon 2012 (3DS, DSi)

*Denotes Game of the Weekend and reduced price for a limited time.

All games featured in the Nintendo Download Update are available now for the Nintendo 3DS, DSi, or Wii.

Man, I played the heck out of SML2 and 3… Wario Land was so much fun, but my parents got annoyed whenever I played it, because they didn’t like the charging sound Wario made… lol.
