With the Olympics only a day away, athletes from all across the world are prepared to compete for honor, prestige, and a gold medal in a series of daring trials. Not to be left out of the festivities, Mario goes for his own variety of gold in the latest trailer for New Super Mario Bros. 2, a side-scrolling tribute to an era gone by coming out for the Nintendo 3DS on August 19.

As expected, this most recent video puts a notable emphasis on the player’s ability to pick up a Golden Mushroom and turn the environment around them into a living, breathing gold mine. Also depicted are an assortment of bright, colorful stages and the return of the legendary Tanooki Suit that sees Mario don a tail and float through the game’s many levels.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 will launch simultaneously with the Nintendo 3DS XL on August 19 for $39.99 at retail and online through the Nintendo 3DS eShop.
