Official: Battlefield 4 Announced, Beta as Medal of Honor: Warfighter Pre-Order Bonus

When it launched late last year, Battlefield 3 was kind of a big deal. The excitement and fervor that surrounded the title was tremendous, but it was difficult for that buzz to extend to the franchise as a whole due to the fact that it doesn’t operate on the same yearly basis as its main competitor, Call of Duty. As such, fans have been adamant in their curiosity as to when Battlefield 4 would mark its grand return to PC and consoles worldwide. Today, their thoughtful anxiety was put to rest as EA confirmed Battlefield 4 and its beta’s presence as a bonus for those that pre-order the Limited Edition of Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

Connections between these two games exist far beyond their publisher; Medal of Honor: Warfighter and Battlefield 4 are both grounded in the grim reality of war and are both powered by the Frostbite 2 engine. Unfortunately for fans of the latter, the two do not share a common fiscal year; while Medal of Honor: Warfighter launches on October 23, Battlefield 4 will not even enter the beta-testing phase granted by this pre-order bonus until Fall 2013.

With no concrete details given in regards to Battlefield 4, it appears as if the curiosity felt by fans will remain aloft in the months leading up to the game’s beta in Fall 2013.
