Ratchet & Clank Collection Brings its High-Definition Updates Stateside on August 28

by on July 16, 2012

Ratchet & Clank have, as a duo, been all over the map in the years following their debut; the bizarre pairing of a Lombax and a robot has spawned games on three different platforms, but, unlike many of the franchise’s peers within the industry, their original outings have yet to see a high-definition update on current-generation hardware in North America. According to Joystiq, this peculiar drought of repackaging will soon come to an end, though, as Ratchet & Clank Collection will make its way to retail and the PlayStation Network on August 28.

As is standard in such compilations, Ratchet & Clank Collection packages together three games in the series originally released for the PlayStation 2, Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, and Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal, and updates them to include high-definition output. All functionality found in the original products (including the exceptional multiplayer offering found in Up Your Arsenal) is present in this re-released bundle.

In order to make up for time lost in the localization process and to promote upcoming first-party titles coming to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, those that purchase Ratchet & Clank HD Collection will gain exclusive access to a demo of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.
